Title: |
Parallel implementation of the BDDC method |
|
Abstract: |
The Balancing Domain Decomposition by Constraints (BDDC) method is one of the most advanced substructuring methods for solving large systems of equations arising from finite element discretizations of elliptic boundary value problems. The presentation describes a parallel implementation of the method build on top of the Multifrontal Massively Parallel Solver (MUMPS). The implementation is tested on problems of linear elasticity, and the performance of the preconditioner is also investigated for Stokes flow, for which the system matrix is indefinite. |

Jakub has been visiting since February and will be leaving at the end of May. He has mainly collaborated with Jan Mandel and Bedrich SousedÃk on domain decomposition methods. In 2008, Jakub obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering CTU (in Prague, CZ) in Mathematical Modeling in Technology. His advisor was Prof. Pavel Burda.
