Numerical solution of the Lame equations with highly discontinuous coefficients

We consider the Lame equations with highly discontinuous coefficients between subdomains. We suggest numerical iterative solvers with convergence uniform in the jump of the coefficients. We also consider limit cases of absolutely incompressible and absolutely compressible media. We find the null-space for the absolutely compressible case and describe its relationship to eigenfunctions of the Cosserat eigenproblem.

The talk is based on the following paper: N. S. Bakhvalov, A. V. Knyazev, and R. R. Parashkevov, An Efficient Iterative Method for solving Lam\'{e} equations for nearly incompressible media and Stokes equations with highly discontinuous coefficients.
