TEXTBOOK:
Numerical Mathematics and Computing. 3th ed. W. Cheney and D. Kincaid. 1994.

SUBJECT:
Solution of linear equations, ODE, PDE, numerical methods for eigenproblems

The course will require some programming experience.

ATTENDANCE AND HOMEWORK:
Punctual attendance and homework fulfilment are expected of all students.

CONTENTS:
The class will follow the outline below, touching on each major topic in a depth that will be determined by the pace of the class.

The major part of the course is a project "Nuclear Reactor Control using the Power Method," where students are supposed to write a program of a power method for an eigenproblem, using MATLAB, and to perform numerical tests, trying to push the program to the limit by increasing the size of the problem.

GRADING POLICY:
The final grade will be based on the grade of a project report.
