SUBJECT:
Core course of the graduate program designed to present topics in linear algebra important in applications. Topics include: practical solution of systems of equations, projections, eigenvalues and eigenvectors, unitary transformations, similarity transformations, Jordan forms, and positive definite matrices.

The class will follow the outline below, touching on each major topic in a depth that will be determined by the pace of the class.

• Ch 4.Linear Functions of a Vector Argument. Quiz 2. Midterm Test.

• Ch 6. The Canonical Form
• Ch 8.Euclidian Spaces. Quiz 4. Final test.
