PLEASE NOTE: The first exam is Wednesday, September 15. Here is a study guide
We will devote some time Monday (9/13) to reviewing the material in chapters 1-3 that you are
responsible for, and answering questions.
I've graded the first exam: The average was about 83%. Students that did poorly (< 60%) should talk to me.
Of course anybody can talk to me at any time, but I want to make sure that everybody that needs help is aware they need help.

Exam #2 will be on October 13 (Wednesday). Here is a study guide for Exam 2
Here are some practice problems for exam #2. Come prepared to discuss them in class on monday 10/11.
Quick hints for last minute studying!
The test will include the material we covered in sections 4.1, 4.2,.4.3; 5.1, 5.2, 5.3; 6.1, 6.2.
Be prepared to answer questions similar to the ones on the recent quizes and practice test.
The format is like the last exam. You can bring in a small sheet with formulas, you can use your calculator, but no other help.
The average on Exam #2 was about 68% I will add 10 points to everybody's score to get the grades more in line
with what most of the class really understands, but the reason the average was so low was that a number of students did very poorly.
If you are one of them, please come talk to me in my office hours or by email. The "uniform final exam" will not be any easier, I assure you!
It is very unusual for students who fail the uniform final to pass the course.
We are a day or so behind, so we need to quickly catch up. I postponed the due date for homework#8 until Monday 10/25. I will assign the
next couple of quizzes as take-home assignments to free up more class time as well. Here are some study materials for Chapter 7.
Please look them over carefully!
Here is the quiz that is due Monday, October 25, at the beginning of class.
Here is quiz #7 which is due Monday, November 1.
Here are some notes that should help.
Here are the instructions for the Final Project.
We will spend some time in class wednesday 11/3 going over the instructions.
QUIZ #8 Due Monday, 11/8.
Start thinking about a project to do, and email me a brief description of what you want to do.
I'll get right back to you with comments, and you'll be on your way.
Here is quiz#9, due Monday, 11/15.
Midterm Exam #3 Here are some study notes for the exam on Wednesday, December 1.
The exam covers chapters 7, 8, 9 and 10. (Look at the study guide for specific topics.)
You can bring a "cheat sheet" to the test. You probably want all the formulas for the various test statistics.
Bring your questions to class on Monday. We will devote the class to reviewing for the exam.
Notes for section 10.2 and 10.3
The Final Exam will be in room NC 1204 on Saturday, December 11, from 9:00-12:00.
